Swiss National Day 2011 at Paul Tobler's House

The Hudson-Mohawk Swiss Society celebrated the Swiss National Holiday on July 31, 2011 at the beautiful property of Paul Tobler, Vice-President, in the hills above Troy, NY. Under the watchful eye of beautiful cows in the nearby pasture, we were entertained by Howard Rust and his Sister Trudy. They are the children of late famous entertainer Swiss Trudy, of Rhinebeck, NY.

Thanks in part to the beautiful Summer weather, we had great attendance. After speeches and the traditional Bratwursts grilled to perfection by our chef, Rudy Schaelchli, Howard Rust lead us into singing Swiss folk songs in German, French and Italian. Trudy and Howard even taught us how to yodel! Something for everyone.

Howard and Heinrich Medicus also sang an enthusiastic rendition of “Frau Meier geht go graase”.

Is the Hudson Mohawk Swiss Society still in existence and if so are they planning a 1st of August celebration. I am a Swiss living in the Kingston, NY area and am loking for a place to celebrate the Swiss Independence Day.
